death by candy

Argh! I should seriously stop muching on sweets >.<  I've been stuffing my face with candy ever since this morning... there goes my 1000-calorie-a-day diet. I ran out of candy so I opened one bag of Halloween candies that we pack for the neighborhood trick-or-treaters. Not to worry we still have 74 baggies left, now if I could just keep my hands of them long enough for my mom to go grocery shopping, LOL.

my daily dose of drama

Since my beloved 2PM is on hiatus (somewhat), I went back to watching kdrama to pass the time. Here are the ones that I'm currently following:

천만번 사랑해
  Loving You a Thousand Times
(Lee Soo Kyung, Jung Gyu Woon)
Synopsis: Go Eun Nim (Lee Soo Kyung) agrees to be a surrogate mother for a rich married couple who've unsuccessfully tried to coceive in order to save her father's life. She'll unknowingly fall in love with Baek Kang Ho (Jung Gyu Woon) who is the younger brother of the father of her baby.

Why I Love it! The main characters look so great together and they have great chemistry ^.^ Every time they have a scene together I can't help but giggle.  I've only seen up to episode 15, but so far the story has progressed properly. It's a plus that Go Eun Nim meets my leading lady requirements: (1)must be pretty (2) must have long hair, and (3) must be thin. And Baek Kang Ho shirtless is just divine, lol. He's body is perfect, toned yet not too buff, just right ^.~  I could definitely use more scenes of him just getting out of the shower, LOL!

Parts that I hate: Eun Nim's super annoying older step-sister, argh! The baby-broker-ajumma's recurrent black eyes... sorry couldn't care less. And the lifeless toddler they have playing Eun Nim's son, is that the best they could do? The kid has only one expression --> o.o  Moon Mason in Baby & Me was younger than this kid and he acted like a pro.

그대, 웃어요
Smile, You
(Lee Min Jung, Jung Kyung Ho)
Synopsis: Seo Jung In (Lee Min Jung) got ditched on her way to her honeymoon when her jerk-off husband knew about her family's bankruptcy. The once rich & pompous Seo family now has to live with their former driver and his family since they have no where else to go.

Why I like it: 3 words- Jung Kyung Ho, lol. I miss seeing him on screen. He was the only part that I liked in My Sweetheart, My Darling... so anything remotely fun with him in it, I'll definitely watch.

미남이시네요
You're Beautiful
(Park Shin Hye, Jang Geun Suk, Lee Hong Ki, Jung Yong Hwa)
Synopsis: She's The Man Korean style. Park Shin Hye plays Go Min Nyu a nun's apprentice who has to pretend to be her twin brother Go Mi Nam in order to keep his dream of becoming an idol alive, while he recuperates from a botched eye surgery. Jang Geun Suk plays Hwang Tae Kyung the moody leader of A.N.JELL with serious OCD.

Why I Like It: again 3 words: Jang Geun Suk, LOL ^___^

Tdrama, to mix it up a bit, lol.

下一站,幸福
Autumn's Concerto
(Ady An, Vaness Wu)
Synopsis: Rich & cocky Ren Guang Xi (Vanness Wu) unexpetedly falls for poor and pure Liang Mu Cheng (Ady An). Unfortunately, after a much needed brain surgery Guang Xi loses his memory of Mu Cheng, to make matters worst Guang Xi's mom orders Mu Cheng to leave his son, not knowing that Mu Cheng is already carrying Guang Xi's baby. Six years pass and Guang Xi is engaged to He Yi Qian, the pretty doctor who took care of him, but a familiar piano piece stirs his memory of his past love.

Why I like It: It has all the ingredients of a typical tragic love story but I somehow enjoy watching it. Could it be the main couple's chemistry? could be... Oh! I know why, on the end of each episode they show this lovely scene of the couple with their son. It sooo adorable! The promise of a happy ending is what keeps me watching this drama.

Balenciaga bags

... my other love ^.^

I love the simplicity of the Balenciaga bags. I absolutely hate designer bags with trademarks all over them *cough*LV/gucci*cough*. I just find them tacky. Balenciagas on the other hand are absolutely divine. The design is simple yet chic. And don't get me started about the colors. There's just too many to choose from that it'll make your head spin. I started making a wishlist, which proved to be futile, coz i just love all of them. The leather varies from year to year. But whether it's thick & smooshy or distressed... the variation just adds to its charm.

The one thing I hate about Balenciaga bags is the price, lol. When you're a poor student like me, you can't really indulge in your obsession for these pricey bags.

I currently own two of these lovely gems (wish i had more), but i'll scrimp and save to nourish my collection, lol.

presenting my bbabies... (sorry for the bad lighting)

my '07 Bleu Glacier City (L) & my '06 Sapin Twiggy(R)

I bought them pre-loved. I got the City for around $1300 and the Twiggy was on sale for $900 ^.^ Black and White are produced every year (as far as I  know), but other colors are only available with their specific seasons. So if you want a certain color, most of the time the only way to get them is through a consignment shop. Although some colors are really similar to each other, you can't even tell the difference unless you look really close.

I started loving Balenciagas when I saw the female lead in Hotaru No Hikari tote a TDF '06 Lilac Day. The understated beauty of the bag just drew me in making it hard for me to concentrate on the story, lol. I started googling and I ended up in The Purse Forum, which is like the online mecca for purse afficionados.  And before I knew it I was hooked.

here's a few of my fave bbags...

Seoul 09.09

Okay, so me and my sis recently went to Seoul, mainly to stalk 2PM and do some shopping on the side. We took a red-eye direct flight from O'Hare to Incheon and that saved us a lot of money. Our flight left around 0100 and we landed in ICN around 0500 (i love time differences! made it seem like a 4hr-flight as opposed to a 14hr-flight). From the airport we took the KAL limousine to our hotel, the 80-minute trip only cost us $14 *woot* I would've enjoyed the scenery more if I wasn't so sleepy. I was only able to take pictures during the beginning of the bus ride coz before I knew I was dozing off, as well was my sister =P

it was too dark for me to make out what this thing was >.~

on our way to Seoul...

land of the morning calm ^.^

I booked our trip through Expedia. Expedia was having this summer sale so I saved $200 from our hotel accomodations. RT tickets and the 5nights/6days hotel stay cost around $2500 for the both of us, which I think was awesome, considering our recent NYC 2nights/3days trip cost us $1800 O__o (and our Seoul hotel was waaayyy nicer than the one we stayed at in Manhattan =P ).

We stayed at Grand Intercontinental Seoul, which is located in the business district of Gangnam-gu. The hotel itself is okay, typical for a five-star hotel, but I appreciated the warm reception and amazing service the hotel employees showed. From the bellman to the concierge to the cleaning ladies, they were always helpful and smiling. And they don't discriminate, there were a lot of important-looking business people staying at the hotel but the employees were just as ready to serve me and my sister in our casual street clothes ^__^

We arrived way before the check-in time, luckily our room was ready so we didn't have to wait. We're NOT rich but we're pretty generous when it comes to tipping, so imagine our conundrum when the porter helped us carry our huge-ass luggage. I've read beforehand that tipping is a no-no in South Korea, but still, being used to thanking people monetarily, me and my sister were frantically making eye signals at each other hoping one would know what to do. In the end, we just thanked him with our limited korean. Luckily, my sister read the little hotel manual-thingie and it stated there that tipping is not allowed, that helped me get over feeling guilty for not tipping the guy. So here are some pics our hotel room.

Another cool thing about our hotel was its location. It was connected to COEX Mall and the subway station was just a quick walk away. We mainly shopped in Coex since it was so near. Although we did venture out to Dongdaemun (no pics though, coz we didn't want to look like tourists, lol.) We took the subway (line 2). Their subway system is fairly easy to navigate. There are maps in the station and stops are announced in English and Korean, so all you have to do is pay attention. We mainly bought clothes in Dongdaemun. We hit Good Morning City, Hello APM, Migliore, and Doota. The clothes sold in Dongdaemun were pretty affordable. But it seemed like everything was one-size-fits-all[Asians], lol. I've read blogs complaining about the lack of bigger-sized clothing in Korea, I guess it's true. I'm built like a kid, short and thin, and I wear a size 0 or 00 in the US, and it seemed like the clothes were made for people the same size as me. I didn't really see any non-Asian foreigner in Dongdaemun so I guess the one-size clothing system won't be a problem.

In Coex we mainly bought school supplies, lol, I know we're such dorks. We bought tons of notebooks, pencil cases, pens, and what-nots from Dalki and Art Box. Notebooks in Korea are wayyyy cuter than the ones sold here. Plus I found this ginormous pink pen, that's currently my favorite.... I collect pens and pencils, did I tell you that?

Before going to Seoul I vowed to only eat Korean food. But we ended up eating pizzas and bagels. My sister has a pretty high tolerance for spicy food, unfortunately I don't... and Korean food is sssspicccyyy! I tried this cup ramyun (well udon, technically), and I specifically chose it coz it wasn't marked spicy or hot, but it was still too spicy for me ;(

my not-supposed-to-be-spicy-but-still-spicy ramyun

We did try their beef soup (탕), which only cost $5 for the whole meal. It came with rice, several side dishes plus a drink. :)

We also got to try their famous galbi thanks to our new friend Sae Beom. She even wrapped one for me :) I truly enjoyed hanging out with her albeit it was only for a short while.

I wish our stay was longer. 6 days is too short to fully appreciate what Seoul has to offer. Hopefully on our next visit we can stay longer.

I'll write a separate blog on my encounter with 2PM ^___^. That day truly deserves its own entry :)
